Fall 2007
Since Albrecht very graciously allowed me to not go to practice today, I had time to sit down, read through all of the class registration stuff from Hamline, and choose my first semester classes.
Here is what I have:
FYSEM Top Choice:
Ancient Greek Myths as a Source of History
Alternatives:
A Second Look (art)
Collision of Two Hemispheres (right-brain/left-brain)
Contemporary American Theatre (self-explanatory)
The Search for Utopia (also self-explanatory, mostly)
Phooey on writing-intensive FYSEM. The other ones sound more interesting, and a freshman English class could be fun. Maybe I'll feel smart.
Fall Credit Courses (Minus the FYSEM):
Writing and Reading Texts
Intermediate Spanish 1
Intro to Latin American History (This one takes care of 3 Hamline Plan requirements at once. Score!)
Alternate Course Selections:
Intro to Anthropology
Logic
General Philosophy
General Pyschology
Additional Courses:
Hamline Winds (Band!)
Total Credits: 17
12 needed to be full-time, 15 if you're getting a Minnesota Grant, which I am. I'm good. I'm considering clarinet lessons, too, to help with those pesky fine arts requirements and avoid a studio art class.
Also avoiding math. Shall take Logic instead.
Unavoidable: Lab science of some kind. Shall take Physics for Poets, perhaps. Science for right-brainers, yes?
I can avoid many intro level classes in my possible major (history) and minor (art history) with APUSH, Euro, and art history. English not acceptable to do away with freshman english, but can count toward a degree. Meaning I don't need to take American or Brit Lit. I love AP.
Oh, and I added anthropology as a possible major and/or minor. It sounds fun. I can be like Josh Bernstein.
Muahahaha.

Ah frickadilly. I suppose I'll go look through all of that right now.
I think for me, it'll have to be the writing intensive FYSEM, because none of my jolly AP English credits transfer (why, Hamline, why???), and, minor in Poli Sci. Okay. Now... to that big fat planning booklet...
You are so organized, dear, and directed. Either way, next year will be fun. I think I'll write a PSA for it:
HAMLINE: The heartwarming family comedy about two mid-Minnesota girls with Big plans for the Big City...
Yep. I've spent too much time in the Little Theatre.

Oops, I forgot the part where they were "under the wise guidance of their college Sophomore friend... without her, they both would have signed up for the Emo FYSEM..."

They transfer, just not to get you out of first year english. The little book says they can count toward your major.
I know I'd be fine in the writing-intensive FYSEM, but honestly, none of them look any fun. Compared to Ancient Greek Myths and art, anyway. Greeks and art win.

I want to know what I'm doing next year... I guess, I could speculate. That could be fun! *goes off to speculate*
Your classes look really awesome, but I'd take "Intro to Philosophy" before "Intro to Psych." I hated Psych. *stabs Psych with spork*

*takes spork away from Kara* Remember, I won't have Peterson. I doubt they'll get that far down my list of alternates, anyway. I checked online and there were still several sections of each. Well, I doubt many freshmen will take Latin American history. It was the only history class open to me that I haven't already taken in some form... I fully intend to get a 5 in Euro, so I will get that credit.
